USE of prayer practices for wellbeing and spirituality

Whether we like to acknowledge it or not, all of us are wounded in some way from family or life experience. From being born I have struggled with severe asthma and ability to breathe as a baby, and that set up a real issue in me so that I grow up with these wounds of being needy, very emotional and at times overwhelmed and anxious.

Like many I have been greatly supported by therapy and spiritual direction for my own healing and restoration, and there have been significant things I have had to adapt and accept that I did not want to face.

We forget it, but the contemplative prayer practices are all about how God as a healing and loving source can help us in these issues of encounter and healing. There are many resources for the spiritual path of healing and wellbeing to support us, not only in our facing the realities of these wounds in the present moment, but practices that enable us to find liberation and healing in the longer term.

A good example is the Blackfriars Community who are committed to the use of these practices to assist our spiritual journey which we have made available online through this the new Blackfriars Community website. See here
